The Children’s Light School is a school that sees children in their soul light and accompanies them in their personal development.
Every person brings an inner light with him at his birth, which would like to express himself in this world.
Life in Nepal is often characterized by rigid roles.
The social value of a person depends on whether he is a boy or a girl, which caste he belongs to or what position he is in the order of birth.
Boys are traditionally preferred, as girls are later married anyway.
What really defines a person – his talents, qualities and potentials – often goes unnoticed.
To show further perspectives, I, Kali Ma from Germany, started in 2002 with the first school sponsorships in Nepal.
My goal was to give children from the poorest families and lowest castes access to education.
People from all over the world support this project, which has so far enabled up to 450 children to receive a school education.
Many former godchildren now send their own children to our school or work as teachers with us themselves. Some of them are even studying to become a teacher and thus carry on the vision.
We like to give young women targeted support:
We create jobs, train them and accompany them on their way to an independent and self-determined life.
In 2014, I followed my vision and founded a pre-school that laid the foundation for today’s Children’s Light School with four children and two teachers. Today, 115 children who are taught by 15 teachers learn there. Three of these teachers are unmarried young women who run the school – a rarity in Nepal, where female principals are hardly known.
The children are particularly proud of their class names, which they have chosen themselves: The youngest start in the lotus class, followed by the rabbit class, lion class, elephant class, giraffe class, eagle class, dragon class and on to the 8th grade. Class with the name “Holy Spirit”.
In addition to classic subjects such as Nepali, English, mathematics, reading and writing, we specifically promote the individual strengths of the children. To enrich the learning, for example, we have created an online mathematics lesson, which is led by a young mathematics professor and takes place three times a week.
Our goal is that both the children and the teachers can grow in their wholeness – to be happy, self-confident and self-responsible people. We combine the joy of learning with the development of the inner light of the soul.
I have been living in Nepal since 2001 and follow my heartfelt desire to support people – whether small or bigā¦- in recognizing themselves in the depths of their nature and in leading a fulfilled life. Because true fulfillment comes from within. When we live in our light, we also contribute to a more peaceful and loving world.
The Children’s Light School offers much more than just teaching.
With workshops, seminars and projects, we support children and teachers to shine in their inner light and integrate their talents into their lives.
Our work is made possible by donations and school sponsorships.
All funds flow directly into the school – whether it is for lunch, books, teaching materials, notebooks, pens or for renovations that are especially necessary after the annual monsoon season, as well as the expansion of new classrooms.
The teachers and parents are also there with joy and commitment.
We are constantly growing and this year with the expansion of class 9 in our school. For this we would like to realize a large school building with our own piece of land – always with the aim of promoting children in their uniqueness and giving them a future full of opportunities.
Would you like to accompany and support the Children’s Light School on its way?
Then you can actively support us either with a donation or as a school sponsor.

The light of the soul stands for the inner source of light, love, wisdom, and truth, which is deeply anchored in all.
The light of the soul can be considered as the essence that connects us to our higher self and to the universe.
It represents the deepest and purest aspects of our being, which remain uninfluenced by external influences and material concerns.
The light of the soul is understood for the imperishable, unchangeable and spiritual self that lies behind the external phenomena and the physical body.
In many spiritual traditions, this light is seen as a source of inner peace, clarity and inspiration.
It is a light that shines not only in ourselves, but also in other people and in the world around us, when we live in harmony with our true self.
